Hypertension is a condition that occurs when your blood pressure rises beyond healthy levels. The measurement of blood pressure acknowledges how much blood is flowing through your vessels as well as how much resistance the flow encounters.
Healthy blood pressure will read 120/80 mmHg. Narrow arteries will increase the resistance of blood flow which raises the blood pressure.
Hypertension occurs gradually over years, even decades, without causing any obvious problems. However, during that time, it could damage your organs including the kidneys, eyes, heart, and brain, and blood vessels.
It’s best to detect high blood pressure early with regular readings and doctor visits. There are also ways to lower high blood pressure naturally, but we’ll get to that later.
