Dos and Don’ts of Good Sleep Habits

According to Help Guide, to help relieve your insomnia it’s good to first identify its underlying causes. When such causes are not identifiable or solving them does not correct our insomnia, there are behavioral changes that we can implement. These include:

– Create an ideal environment for sleep, making sure your bedroom is dark, cool and dry.
– Some people respond better to perfect silence, whereas others may need a white noise machine.
– Create a routine by going to bed every night at the same time and waking up at the same hour.
– Reduce your intake of caffeine, especially before bed.
– Avoid over-stimulating activities such as work or family-related discussion before bed.
– Turn off all screens at least an hour before bed.
