Lesley started her yoga journey with the 26+2 series about 14 years ago. Her first class was one of the hardest things she had ever done, and her body was incredibly tight from years of running and competitive sports. She almost religiously took a 90-minute 26+2 class for five years, and then she became curious about other schools of yoga. During a trip to Bali, Lesley immersed herself in the world of yoga and fell in love with vinyasa flow and Ashtanga. After training and participating in the USA Yoga Championships for three years, she completed her first teacher training in India, where she learned about philosophy and dove more into meditation and pranayama. Upon returning, she started teaching Hot Power Yoga in the bay area, which is where her love of teaching blossomed. Her second 200-hour training was more specifically focused on Ashtanga Vinyasa (with All Yoga Thailand), and she began teaching a modified primary series at her home studio. A little over a year ago, she decided to quit her job as a school teacher and move to Los Angeles to make teaching yoga her primary career, in addition to pursuing her music and performance as a contortionist. She now teaches at a variety of yoga studios in the Los Angeles area, including Equinox, Hot 8, Rise Hot Yoga and Urban 728 Hot Yoga. She is a dedicated practitioner and is constantly in awe of what her body is able to do because of the asana practice It has also helped her build tremendous mental strength, and she leads classes that are both challenging and disciplined with a strong focus on the connection to the breath. You can learn more about Lesley through her business, Moonchild Yogini.
