Types of Sinus Infections
There are different sinus infections. How you treat them and how long they last depend on what type you’re dealing with. The types are:
Acute Sinusitis
This type lasts the least, and common cold and allergies often cause it. A viral infection can last between one to two weeks. However, if a bacterial infection causes it, the symptoms can last up to four weeks.
Subacute Sinusitis
Often caused by seasonal allergies and bacterial infection. Symptoms can last up to three months.
Chronic Sinusitis
This type is usually less severe, and bacteria is often the culprit. Symptoms can last over three months.
Recurrent Sinusitis
As the name implies, it comes and goes several times in a year.
